Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a condition which causes inflammation of the tendons on the outside of the elbow. Pain occurs where the tendons of the forearm insert onto the bony bump (lateral epicondyle) of the elbow. Tennis elbow is most commonly an overuse injury that's seen with repetitive backhand swings.
Consider seeing a doctor if rest, ice, and pain relievers do not ease the pain.
